Portico Participants' Meeting at ALA | Invitation and Agenda

Portico is pleased to invite you to our third annual Participants' Meeting during this year's ALA Annual Conference in Anaheim, CA. The meeting - open to those interested in learning more about Portico and to all participating libraries and publishers - will take place on Saturday, June 28, 2008, in the Marquis Ballroom Northeast, Anaheim Marriott Hotel, 700 West Convention Way. A continental breakfast will be offered at 8:00 am, and the program will run from 8:30 - 10:00 am.

This year’s agenda will include an overview of new preservation activities being formally launched at the Conference and developed as a result of our ongoing conversations with publishers and libraries about their digital preservation needs. Eileen Fenton, Executive Director, will discuss:

The extension of Portico’s preservation capabilities to include e-books and d-newspapers, and
A service to enable libraries to preserve locally created/digitized electronic scholarly materials within the Portico archive.

Also on the program is Nancy Maron, a Senior Research Associate from Ithaka Strategic Services who will summarize results from the Portico/Ithaka 2008 survey on libraries' e-journal preservation perceptions and strategies.
