Temple University joins Portico
Portico is pleased to announce that Temple University has joined its e-journal and e-book preservation services. Temple joins more than 1,000 libraries around the world that support digital preservation—including more than 80% of Association of Research Library (ARL) members.
Joe Lucia, Dean of Libraries at Temple, said, “Temple University Libraries are proud to participate in Portico, which we see as an important model for collaborative preservation of digital scholarly content. It’s a service that is congruent with the core values of our academic enterprise.”
“We welcome Temple to Portico,” said Kate Wittenberg, Managing Director of Portico. “We rely on the support of the library and publishing communities to be able to preserve critical scholarship, and are pleased to have Temple University join our efforts.”
To date, 1,023 libraries from 21 countries participate in Portico. More than 500 publishers, representing more than 2,000 societies and associations, also participate in Portico. The Portico archive holds over 1.4 billion files—with more than 900,000 e-books and 26,000 e-journals.
